Welcome to Maunaloa School! Maunaloa School is one of four K-6 rural elementary schools located on the island of Molokai. The first classroom building was built in 1937. Our school is situated on the southeast corner of Maunaloa town. During the 2012-2013 and 2013-2014 school years, Maunaloa School received the Hawaii Department of Education’s Strive HI “Recognition”status.
Mr. Yamamoto has been principal of Maunaloa Elementary School in Maunaloa, Molokai for more than 14 years. During that time, he set goals to improve student achievement, attendance, behavior and parent and community involvement.
“Principal Yamamoto has a wonderful rapport with the children,” said Wendy Espaniola, Teacher at Maunaloa School. “He strives to support their needs by making sure we have the proper resources and services, professional development, and time, to continuously build a learning environment that not only meets student needs but also challenges learning,” she said.
